This past September we attended our friends’ wedding in Positano and I was tasked with finding the perfect hotel. My husband always complains about my hotel choices in Italy so I did my best not to disappoint. AGAIN. Hence, I needed to find a modern, five-star hotel not too far from the wedding venue, and that’s when I stumbled upon Casa Angelina Luxury Boutique Hotel. This modern, adult-only, minimalist 39-room boutique hotel located in Praiano is designed to perfection. Many things make this hotel special and I hope this post inspires you to stay at this luxury boutique hotel during your next trip to the Amalfi Coast.
Casa Angelina Luxury Boutique Hotel In The Amalfi Coast
Casa Angelina sits on the cliffs of the Amalfi coast in Praiano overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a short 20-minute drive to Positano and Amalfi. But don’t fret if you are not comfortable driving those narrow winding roads! Casa Angelina offers a complimentary shuttle bus to and from Positano or you can book a private chauffeur. The concierges can organise all types of daytrips and excursions, all you need to do is ask. Also, if you need some inspiration to plan your stay you can check out their Concierge Handbook.
Casa Angelina’s Contemporary Art
As you first enter the hotel property you are greeted by two distinct bronze sculptures by French artist Etienne. These sculptures are a great reference point when looking for the hotel entrance, they helped us find the property. Contemporary art, which so happens to be my favorite kind of art is spread across the hotel’s public spaces. The all-white interiors are complemented with various hand-picked pieces from pertinent contemporary artists from all over the world. These include pieces by Mexican sculptor Sergio Bustamante, Lebanese artist Gina Nahle, Argentinian-born Patricia Valencia Carstens, French artist Etienne and Tim Cotterill. The many colorful glass sculptures found on the property courtesy of Venetian Murano are realizations of Cuban artist Alfredo Sosabravo’s oil paintings and drawings.
Relaxing Sea View Room
We booked the Relaxing Sea View Room which measures 280 square feet, a little smaller than what we are used to but the décor made up for it. The minimalist décor is made up of clean lines and sleek contemporary furniture. The all white interior was perfectly complimented by the incredible sea view from our room’s terrace. I always appreciate a well-designed hotel, especially when it fits my personal design style. A Nespresso machine with a variety of capsules are available in the room along with a flat-screen tv, iPad, iPod dock and free WIFI. The Etro bed linens and bath towels as well as L’Occitane beauty products are a nice luxury touch.
Dinning At Casa Angelina Luxury Boutique Hotel
Breakfast was included with our stay; unfortunately, not the room service type. Despite having to look presentable for breakfast we really enjoyed the selection. Guests can choose from the vast buffet offerings or order from the à la carte menu. The freshly squeezed fruit juices are worth a try; the Tan Booster, my drink of choice, was delicious! We ate at the poolside restaurant on a couple of occasions and the food was good but not great. Although the food at Marrakech Bar is nothing to write home about, be sure to take in the spectacular view while you enjoy a cigar or have a drink by the cliff-edge terrace. Un Piano Nel Cielo, the hotel’s fine dinning option which we did not have the pleasure of trying, also offers breathtaking views. The menu offers traditional dishes rich in cultural tradition from Campania.
Pool, Beach & Spa
I’m sad to say that we did not have the pleasure of trying out the spa during our visit. I guess we’ll have to go back! We also decided against making the long 200 step journey down to the beach since that only meant 200 more steps back up. We did lay by the outdoor pool one afternoon which offers amazing views of the coast. Unfortunately, only my toes made their way in as the water was much too cold.
