It isn’t very often that a hotel truly captures the essence of a city. When I think of Paris a few words come to mind; beautiful, fashionable, memorable, fun, sophisticated, artistic and historic. These words also describe Hôtel Plaza Athénée. If Paris was a hotel it would be Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
The magic began as we drove onto Avenue Montaigne. Where trees adorned with Christmas lights and beautifully decorated store fronts lead the way to the hotel. Avenue Montaigne is home to several luxury boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Dior, Prada, Chanel, Gucci and many more.
As we drove up to the hotel we were quickly greeted by two hotel porters. One handled our luggage and the second kindly escorted us to the reception. The lobby is exquisitely designed with marble mosaic floors, wood paneling, bronze, and brushed oak furniture. Although the Christmas décor was a little subtler than the previous year I couldn’t help but feel the holiday spirit. The columns are decorated with red branches, Christmas wreaths and cute red teddy bears. The décor blends perfectly with the modern art installation and classic mural. As we made our way up the newly renovated section of the hotel, each door on our floor was decorated with gorgeous pink feathered wreaths with a gold bow.

Deluxe Guestroom At Hôtel Plaza Athénée
The rooms are elegant and decorated to perfection. As of Fall 2017 all rooms now have a complete range of Guerlain beauty products. The pièce de resistance is the view from the balcony; this is where the magic happens. We booked the Deluxe Guestroom with a view of Avenue Montaigne and I highly recommend doing the same if this is your first time staying at this hotel. I opened the French doors that lead to the Juliette balcony, looked to my right and my eyes lit up when I saw the Eiffel tower twinkling in the distance. This was the prettiest view I’d ever seen!
In Room Dining
We ordered room service soon after we arrived since it was late, and too tired to go out. I opted for the French Onion soup while Carl ordered sushi and fish and chips; the lest French items on the menu. My choice was by far the best! French bread drenched in broth and oozing with melted cheese paired with a glass of Chablis is always a good idea. The following morning we decided to order in room dining again before heading out for the day. The breakfast arrived with two orders of eggs Benedict covered with a silver cloche, tea and water pot all engraved with Plaza Athénée. Have I mentioned that I love attention to detail?
Dior Institut
The hotel is home to the Dior Institute which we had the pleasure of experiencing on our previous visit to Paris. This spa is the epitome of luxury, the treatments are tailored to your preferences and the facilities are state of the art. The “architect of couture”, Christian Dior, is represented throughout space as well the overall experience. Simply perfection!
Drink At Le Bar
After spending the day roaming the streets of Paris we decided to end our night at Le Bar. Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku have achieved an astonishing space, where the depth of colors, between blue and brown allows guests to delve into an unreal and timeless atmosphere. As you sit back and sip on a cocktail you can’t help but admire the beautiful model like patrons dressed to perfection enjoying a night out on the town.
Lunch At Le Relais
Our last stop was at Le Relais, a chic French brasserie within the hotel with a worldly and refined spirit. It doesn’t get anymore Parisian than this! The steak tartare is prepared at your table and is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Worth a stop even if you are not staying at Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
The hotel has been recognized through several awards. It was voted No.4 best hotel in Paris by Condé Nast Traveller 2017 and is a Forbes Star Award winner for 2017. Restaurant Alain Ducasse, also located inside hotel Plaza Athénée, is a three Michelin starred restaurant and No. 13 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The Dior Institute also won the World Luxury Spa award in 2016.
This will not be our last visit to this magnificent property and I hope you also have a chance to experience this hotel in your lifetime. Paris is one of the prettiest cities in the world and Hôtel Plaza Athénée is a sparkling diamond amidst the many jewels of the city.
I hope you enjoyed reading all about our stay at Hôtel Plaza Athénée! If you plan on visiting Paris and would like to stay at this fabulous hotel you can book right here. For more on what to do in Paris check out: Holiday City Break In Paris
