Momofuku Shōtō Top Five Favorite Restaurants Of 2017 Toronto

Top 5 Favorite Restaurants Of 2017

We really enjoy trying new restaurants, especially when we travel. This past year we've dined at 8 of the world's 50 best and several Michelin-starred restaurants but only a few stood out. Keep reading to find out which ones made my list of top 5 favorite restaurants of 2017 and why!

No. 5: Momofuku Shōtō Toronto

We've dined at Momofuku Shōtō on several occasions and our most recent visit in November was by far our favorite. Carl took me to Momofuku Ko on our first in NYC as a couple. He clearly knew at an early stage that the way to my heart was fine dining. The restaurant offers counter seating where you get to indulge in the Chef's Tasting menu which changes periodically. I highly recommend the wine pairing as it compliments each dish perfectly and adds to the experience. Here are a few of my favorite dishes from the November 30th menu.

No. 4: The Clove Club London

The Clove Club is a one Michelin-Starred restaurant by chef-owner Isaac McHale with Chase Lovecky. A must if visiting London! It is also ranked No.26 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list for 2017. What to expect? It is a really laid back restaurant that serves modern British dishes in a relaxed setting. The prestige wine pairing is not to be missed! But beware, it isn't for lightweights!

No. 3: Restaurant Tim Raue Berlin

This two Michelin-Starred restaurant by Chef Tim Raue and wife Marie-Anne, the restaurant's maître d' and sommelier, is the least pretentious fine dining restaurant I've ever experienced. The staff wore running shoes. Restaurant Tim Raue is ranked No.48 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list. Tim Raue's story alone is worth knowing, his difficult childhood and all the obstacles he's had to overcome make this dining experience even more special. His fascination with Asian cuisine is portrayed perfectly in his dishes.

No. 2: Narisawa Tokyo

Narisawa is a two Michelin-Starred restaurant and no. 18 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants by Chef Yoshihiro Narisawa. Chef Yoshihiro takes satoyama cuisine to another level. Bread of the Forest, the famous dish at Nariswa, is brought to the table at the very start of your dining experience and allowed to rise over the amuse-bouche and first course. After the dough rises, the waiter then scoops it out into a stone pot and allows it to bake at the table. For more on this restaurant check out:  Restaurant Picks Fit For Foodies – Tokyo (Part 1)

No.1 On My Top 5 Favorite Restaurants Of 2017 Is...

Eleven Madison Park in NYC! Not only is this my favorite for 2017 but it is also ranked no.1 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list! Chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara #makeitnice in everything they do! This three Michelin-Starred restaurant closed for renovations over the summer and just-re-opened in October, can't wait to go back! The highlight dishes are the Carrot Tartare with rye toast and the Foie Gras Torchon with maple syrup and pain d'épice. Just wow!
