The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa Zakynthos Greece

Hotel Review: The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa

My childhood friend invited me to join her on her family vacation to Zakynthos, Greece and of course I said yes! I usually decline an invitation to stay at someone’s place since I like my privacy. And so, I began searching for the perfect hotel. My search for a five-star hotel close enough to where my friend was staying led me to The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa.

At time of booking

When there are no Marriott Hotel Brands in the location I plan on staying, Hotels.com is my booking site of choice. I simply select the location, dates of stay, the star rating (5 Star), guest rating (4+) and finally sort by guest rating. You also have the option to view on map for a better idea of where the hotels are located. You’ll find Hotels.com reviews along with TripAdvisor reviews for the hotels you view. There are several room types to choose from and options like free-cancellation, free breakfast and the option to pay now or at the hotel. Hotels.com also offers a great loyalty program. When you collect 10 nights you get one free valued at the average cost of your previous 10-night stays.

Arrival at The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa

The hotel façade is nothing special, I was expecting a little more from a five-star hotel. I got out of the car and rolled by bag up the ramp before being greeting by a porter. He took my bag and placed it to the side and I was told someone would be with me shortly.

Check-in process

I made my way to the check-in counter where I was handed a clip board with a sheet of paper. I was then asked to take a seat to complete the form and told someone would come get me. While I was waiting, I noticed champagne flutes on the counter along with a chilled bottle but I wasn’t offered any. After waiting several minutes, I made my way back to the reception desk and asked if I could check-in. They proceeded to check me in and told me someone would be right with me to escort me to my room. I was greeted by Magda Kefalinou from Guest Relations and given a very warm welcome and tour of the hotel and room.

Bathroom – The bathroom was clean and stocked with the necessary amenities except for soap bars. I don’t like liquid soap and when I asked for a soap bar I was told they only had liquid.

Noise Levels – The air conditioner was very quiet which made for a very pleasant night’s sleep. Because this hotel is very kid friendly you’ll hear lots of activity in the hallway.

Bed – The bed and pillows were comfortable. Don’t expect a top quality Four Seasons plush duvet. All you get is a sheet.

Closet Space – You’ll find ample closet space with hanging space and room to store your shoes and bags.

WiFi – Free WIFI is available throughout the hotel, accessible with a password provided at check-in.

Water Bottles – A large water bottle was provided and smaller bottles were available in the mini fridge; all complimentary.

Slippers and Bathrobe – Both were provided.

Breakfast

I ordered room service twice and opted for the mushroom, fresh tomatoes and ham omelette with toast and without toast the second time. It is a very simple breakfast so don’t expect any extras. I didn’t get butter for my toast and the omelette was incredibly salty.

Location

The hotel is only a 10-minute drive to Zakynthos and 20 minutes from the airport. The island is small and you can get around easily. The only downside would be that the hotel is not directly on the beach.

Pool/Spa

There are two pools to choose from with ample seating. You receive a card at check-in which allows you one towel per day to be collected in the spa area. If you do not return the card at the end of your stay you are charged €20. If you want to order drinks you need to make your way to the bar; they don’t walk around the pool to take orders. Once you place your order they do bring your drinks if it is more than you can handle. There is a salon in the hotel which is nice if you’re like me and hate doing your hair while on vacation. I did not get to enjoy the spa so I can’t review the treatments or facility.

Value for Money

The price per night is reasonable for a five-star hotel. Food and drinks are also inexpensive. Overall this hotel offers good value for money.

Concierge Service/Guest Relations

I organised a chartered yacht during my stay and Magda Kefalinou from Guest Relations went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. We emailed back and forth prior to my arrival and she made all the necessary arrangements. Due to bad weather, we had to move our excursion to the following day and were kept informed the whole time of any weather changes or possible cancellations. Magda even made sure we had Gravol on board after my friend’s 6-year-old mentioned he’d never been on a boat and wasn’t sure if he’d get sick.

Overall Experience

The Lesante Luxury Hotel & Spa is the equivalent of an American 4-star beach resort found in Cuba, Dominican and Mexico. I would expect a five-star hotel in Greece to have a better property with sea views and access to a beach from the pool area. Instead, guests must go through the lobby, exit the hotel, make their way onto the road and walk to the beach. It is only a 3-minute walk but part of staying at a luxury hotel is having direct access to a beach. The service is great and if you are a family with young children this is the perfect hotel. If you are looking for a romantic getaway I would recommend checking out their newest hotel for adults only; Lesante Blu Exclusive Beach Resort.
